Distal biceps tendon injuries

چکیده
Distal biceps tendon (DBT) conditions are relatively common in middle-aged males. The number of reported DBT tears seems to have increased over the last few years, likely related to better understanding and improved diagnostic methods.1 While some individuals may maintain reasonable function after non-operative treatment of a ruptured DBT, biomechanical and clinical studies suggest that most individuals benefit from surficial repair or reconstruction.2 Over the last decade, there has been a substantial increase in the number of studies focussed on DBT tears, mostly reporting on biomechanical and clinical outcomes depending on the surgical technique or fixation method.2-4 However, some aspects of the evaluation and treatment of DBT-related conditions remain controversial. The purpose of this article is to provide an up-to-date review of the literature with emphasis on the most clinically relevant available information.

Chronic Partial Rupture of Distal Biceps Tendon in an Adolescent―A Case Report
Distal biceps tendon rupture accounts for only 3% 10% of all biceps tendon injuries. The majority of distal biceps tendon injuries are from complete rupture. It is especially rare to diagnose partial rupture of the distal biceps tendon. Our case profiles a chronic partial tear of the distal biceps tendon in a pediatric patient.

The hamstring muscles and tendons are the most commonly injured muscle group in athletes. The hamstring tendons are particularly vulnerable to injuries, as they cross 2 joints and have a high proportion of type 2 muscle fibers. They act mainly as decelerators of the leg, and as they work eccentrically, they are prone to excessive force in the muscle-tendon unit. Most hamstring injuries are stra...
متن کاملMultiple nerve injuries following repair of a distal biceps tendon rupture--case report and review of the literature.
Current repair of a distal biceps tendon rupture has reverted to the single incision technique. Postoperative complications are rare, but the most common are due to neuropraxia. We present the case of patient who sustained multiple nerve injuries following distal biceps repair. This case is presented with a review of the literature.
متن کاملBrachial Artery Injury during Surgical Repair of Distal Biceps Rupture: A Report of Two Cases
Distal biceps tendon ruptures are a result of an eccentric load onto a flexed elbow and can lead to loss of flexion and supination strength. Surgical treatment is a well-accepted treatment that can improve flexion and supination strength, however, can be associated with a number of surgical complications. The case presented here describes a vascular injury sustained during a distal biceps tendo...

Background Rupture of the distal biceps and triceps tendons are relatively uncommon injuries typically occurring in middle-aged males as a result of eccentric loading of the tendon. Methods A literature search was performed and the authors' personal experiences reported. Results This review discusses the diagnosis, indications and guidelines for management of these injuries and provides a d...
